Children’s Ministry

Children’s Ministry

Welcome to the children’s ministry at Greenwood Park. We love our GP Kids and families! We want our children to be deeply ROOTED in God’s Word, in Christ’s love, and in Church fellowship, EQUIPPED by the Holy Spirit to the glory of God. Learn more about our GP Kids Mission here.

GP Kids Theme Verses:

Each year, our ministry chooses a theme verse for families to memorize together. Each verse is prayerfully chosen and embodies a message we want our children and families to know.

2019-2020 Hebrews 13:20-21 NIV

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Listen to God’s Word through Ann Kirkpatrick’s song of Hebrews 13: 20-21 here.

This 2019-2020 verse empowers us to be confident that God EQUIPS us with everything good for doing His will through Jesus Christ to Whom be the glory!

2018-2019 Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord,
And whose hope is the Lord.
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
Which spreads out its roots by the river,
And will not fear when heat comes;
But its leaf will be green,
And will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Listen to God’s Word through Ann Kirkpatrick’s song of Jeremiah 17:7-8 here.

This 2018-2019 verse serves as our GP Kids ROOTED mission verse.

Enjoy Family Worship!

We cherish times to worship with our little ones! We reserve the last Sunday of every month as a Family Worship Sunday. On these special Sundays, children remain with their families/guardians in the auditorium for the entire worship service. When children see their loved ones delight in the worship of God, it can stir the same longing in their hearts. We offer coloring pages, quiet activities, and books at the Welcome Center for your family to borrow. The nursery will remain available for children 6 months through 2-years-old (not yet in the 2-year-old class).

Wednesday Night with GP Kids

We welcome all children 6 months – 6th grade for Bible classes on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:30! An unattended infant nursery is available for mothers and babies at all times in the main hallway. We organize children into classes according to the Warren Co. cutoff date of August 1st. We “Seek and Find” answers to questions in the Bible and recite the Bible Drill based on Paul Savage’s material that helps kids learn Bible facts and memorize Scriptures. Our GP Kids take an active role as our Bible Drill leaders! As our GP Kids memorize and master new Bible knowledge, they grow more deeply ROOTED in the Word and hopefully develop a deeper loving relationship with God.

The 4-year-old children and kindergartners head to the Bible Builders class, an originally developed GP curriculum. The Bible Builders class uses The Read and Share Bible and videos to guide their lessons while also making special binders to hold lesson crafts, games, and materials. Families are invited into class to review the binders throughout the year, and the children take their binders home at the end of the school year to keep. Hopefully this special Bible binder can be reviewed often and keep your young children ROOTED in God’s Word!

ROOTED at Home

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 God’s commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

In the spirit of this verse, we want to encourage each family to be deeply ROOTED in God’s Word not just at Church and Bible class, but also to be ROOTED at Home. Being ROOTED at Home with your family is very important and the most powerful way to teach children about God. Please explore these friendly resources to help your entire family grow in God:

Family Resources Learn more about our resources through by clicking this link to our ROOTED at Home Family Letter and Remind Schedule.

Click this link for our most-recent Bible Drill PowerPoint and this link for a summary of our Bible Drill.

Learn the names and attributes of Jesus with this link.

Click this link for our ROOTED at Home Bible reading note pages. GP Kids who read Bible stories on their own and with their families earn prizes. We celebrate Bible reading because storing God’s Word in our hearts is the greatest treasure that always gives great reward!

Scripture Songs

Use music to help teach your children about God’s Word as you go along the road together (Deuteronomy 6: 6-7).

Click here to listen to Ann Kirkpatrick’s and Joel Guyer’s original Scripture songs. Ann and Joel, two musically talented GP members, created these songs to help our GP Kids memorize Bible verses and to celebrate special ministry activities (like VBS and church presentations). You and your kids are sure to enjoy these awesome a capella arrangements!

Seeds Family Worship and Randall Goodgame’s Slugs & Bugs albums are Bible verses set to songs. We recommend these albums as a powerful and joyful way for your children to plant God’s Words in their hearts and minds. Check out their websites if you’re interested!
